One of my favorite areas in Phnom Penh is BKK1 so when I have occassion to need a hotel I enjoy staying in that neighborhood. The area is very expat friendly and filled with many lovely boutique hotels. One such place is Homesyn hotel which is located just West of the Wat Langka temple. It is right across the street from my favorite Japanese restaurant, Ninja Dining House, and is in fact surrounded by great restaurants within a radius of a few blocks. The hotel itself has a very nice cafe and juice bar downstairs where food can be ordered as well. The staff is friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable in taking care of their patrons. There are three types of rooms in the Homesyn hotel; standard with no windows, standard with a window view and a balcony room. Rooms start as low as $23 for the standard on booking.com and while I usually take the balcony room I have never had to pay more than $32 per night.
All rooms come with a safe and a desk for those who need to work. Each room is very spacious and never does one feel cramped. The entire facility is kept immaculate and as the big building across the street just finished construction, there are no loud noises to hinder your sleep. The facility does not have a pool, but does house a perfectly adequate gym. Room service is available and the facility features 24 hour security outside. But the neighborhood is one of the safest and most tourist attractive in the city. At night guest are a mere two blocks from street 51 where restaurants, bars and clubs are open until the late hours. For a stay in Phnom Penh there are few hotels that offer better value and if a smaller and boutique style hotel is preferred, Homesyn should be at the top of the list.
