It is no secret how much I like good food. But being an American I especially like burgers and my friends have often joked that I seem to find the next great burger just about every week. Well I have found one more and while I am not sure where it fits in the pantheon of burgers throughout Cambodia, Jeztz Kampot is definitely my favorite burger joint in Kampot. First of all, Jetzt is set up very nicely. The restaurant is clean and nicely designed with both indoor and outdoor seating, a bar area and tables for those dining. There are probably more drinks offered than food on the menu, but don't let that fool you as this place is known for one thing, their fantastic burgers. Made from 100% New Zealand beef, the quality really shows in each of their burgers once you give them a bite. You'll need extra napkins just to clean up all the juices that flow out of each patty. They rightfully tell you right there on the menu that they don't make their burgers well done. I usually get mine medium rare or medium and they always cook to the right temperature. They do burgers many different ways from those filled with cream cheese, those made with brie cheese, a vegetarian option and even one called the Big Mac after the American classic. My favorite is the quarter pounder as it's just the right size and with bacon as an extra option is to die for. The guys who work there are real friendly and it's a great place to hang out for hours or just to grab a quick bite. So the next time you're in Kampot, hopefully I'll run into you at Jetzt.
Cambodian Food Scene
Cambodia is surprisingly filled with many great restaurants, from inexpensive to those closer to Western prices. These are just a collection of my favorite places to eat throughout the country.
