There are many restaurants in Phnom Penh that serve what one would consider "American cuisine." But it can be difficult to describe exactly what such cuisine is and many places just have the standard fare such as burgers and fries. One genre of this type of cuisine that can be difficult to find in Cambodia is what I would call American bar food. But the 110 Street Bar & Grill, also known as Larry's Bar & Grill, is an establishment that truly understands the spirit of this type of fare. Go down the list and this restaurant checks all the boxes:
• Great burger
• Decent value steak
• Good pizza and pasta
• Chicken wings
• Wide array of alcoholic beverages
My absolute favorite dish at Larry's is their burger which I will order with cheese, BBQ sauce on the side and an order of onion rings. I use the rings and sauce to form my own version of a western bacon cheeseburger. I'll admit that the beef patty is not always cooked to the temperature I request (medium rare), but that is often the case here in Cambodia and the burgers at this establishment are plenty juicy regardless. Other great appetizers include the chicken wings which come with a zesty but not too spicy sauce and authentic ranch dressing on the side.
No restaurant of this type would be complete without a proper steak and Larry's serves one of the better ones in town. A tender rump steak with a side of Caesar Salad can be had for only $12 and presents one of the better value meals in Phnom Penh. The beef has a good fat to meat ratio and is cooked expertly with all the grizzle having been properly rendered down. Every once in a while Larry will get a special cut of steak and make it available either as a special or as part of their weekly Sunday BBQ grill menu.
There are plenty of other great options on the menu ranging from sandwiches to pasta. The meatball sub is always a crowd favorite, made from a delicious mixture of different cuts of meat and their spaghetti with meatballs always pleases as well. There are a wide variety of pizzas on the menu as well from traditional offerings such as pepperoni to more exotic fare such as seafood and Hawaiian. Of course this is a bar so there are plenty of drinks to go around. Larry has just about everything on the shelf to go along with an impressive selection of wines and mixed drinks that are expertly made by his staff.
Located on street 110 right next to the riverside, the Street 110 Bar & Grill is in an ideal location for those who like to eat dinner before perusing the many bars in this area.
Cambodian Food Scene
Cambodia is surprisingly filled with many great restaurants, from inexpensive to those closer to Western prices. These are just a collection of my favorite places to eat throughout the country.
