Le Croisette is an institution in Phnom Penh when it comes to fine dining. With its location right on the riverside it has been one of my favorite culinary institutions in the city. And with recent renovations the restaurant offers even a better experience with an open courtyard type area upstairs.
he decor is modern and inviting, but the star of this restaurant is their eclectic menu. From their many breakfast offerings and great burgers, from their Italian fare to delicious steaks La Croisette has something for everyone. I often come to this restaurant during breakfast, especially now that they have the upstairs area that directly overlooks the river. It's a great way to enjoy my American Breakfast, one of their delicious offerings during the morning. It comes with eggs your way, bacon, sausage, country fried potatoes and a full bread basket. Another great breakfast offering is their eggs benedict as La Croisette is one of the few restaurants that offer this dish. The eggs are perfectly poached and comes with a decadent hollandaise sauce. Whichever dish you choose you cannot go wrong in this establishment for breakfast.
La Croisette is also a great place for lunch as they have many wonderful burger offerings. My personal favorites are the Swiss which comes with a creamy mushroom sauce and the XL. The latter is a double patty burger that comes with everything imaginable including bacon, egg, fried onions and barbecue sauce. This is a burger you'll definitely want to cut in half and take a picture of as it's cooked to a perfect medium rare and that egg will ooze all over the burger in the best way possible.
I also love coming to this establishment during dinner as they have some of the best Italian offerings in Phnom Penh. You'l definitely want to try the pizzas as they are loaded with fresh ingredients and some of the best selection of meats available. My personal favorite is the salami pizza which is basically their version of the classic Pepperoni. The pizza is loaded with slices of thick salami and is one of the best pies in town. It's great for sharing between two people or if you are like me, just enough for one. La Croisette also has a great selection of pasta dishes from spaghetti and lasagna, to ravioli and papardelle. One of my favorites is the spaghetti polpette al carne which is their version of spaghetti and meatballs. The noodles are correctly cooked al dente and the sauce is rich and complex with many wonderful flavors. But the star of the dish are the meatballs which is a combination of different meats combined to a juicy perfection.
I would not call La Croisette a budget restaurant, but for the premier experience the establishment does present great value. The staff is very well trained, friendly to all customers and knowledgeable regarding the menu. The riverside is full of great restaurants and is a great place to eat. When heading out in that direction La Croisette should be on the top of the list for any foodie.
Cambodian Food Scene
Cambodia is surprisingly filled with many great restaurants, from inexpensive to those closer to Western prices. These are just a collection of my favorite places to eat throughout the country.
